Kanye Is Not The New King Of Pop

August 6, 2009

Written By: Victoria H. (Urban Editor)

The reports that Kanye West is set to take over Michael Jackson’s self-imposed title “The King Of Pop” are false.

Michael’s fans were upset to hear that Kanye feels that he is the new “King Of Pop” after he said in an interview “You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change – it’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on. First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it is Kanye’s time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”

Kanye’s reps said that the rapper never made these comments and that is it internet hoax. West blogged that this rumor upsets him as he would not make such a statement following Michael’s death.

Progress Reported in Custody Negotiations over Michael Jackson’s Children

The court date for the custody battle over two of Michael Jackson’s three children has been pushed back amid reports of progress in negotiations between biological mother Debbie Rowe and the deceased musician’s mother and father, Katherine and Joe Jackson.

“We’re getting pretty close to a deal,” said Joe Jackson, Michael’s father, “I can just about smell the meat a-cooking.”

According to the latest proposal, Ms. Rowe would be offered a substantial payment in exchange for dropping her custody claim, similar to the deal she accepted several years ago. Negotiations have now centered around the amount of the payment.

“Back when I last offered to give up custody of my children in exchange for cash,” said Ms. Rowe through a spokesperson, “They weighed considerably less than they do now. If we calculate the amount of the earlier payment in terms of the children’s weight back then and calculate what they will weigh when they’re 18, I think we can work out a fair payment.”

“She gets cash based on what they weigh now,” Mr. Jackson has reportedly responded, “None of this stuff about what they might weigh years later. Who knows how they’ll turn out? What if they develop that anorexia or something? Then I’ll have WAY overpaid.”

Family, friends and advisers are reportedly urging Mr. Jackson to accept Ms. Rowe’s offer, pointing out that with custody, Mr. Jackson will have the opportunity to do with Paris and Prince Michael what he did with his biological son Michael—take them completely out of normal interactions with playmates, friends and society and train them intensively and exclusively to sing and dance.

“That way,” said a family friend, “The children will make a gazillion times whatever Joe decides to pay Debbie Rowe. There’s no need for anyone to be greedy here. Everyone stands to make a killing if Debbie and Joe can just stop this bickering.”

The city of Los Angeles has only raised about $17,000 in donations to cover the costs spent for the Michael Jackson Memorial. It is not because Michael’s fans are cheap, in fact it is because too many fans are logging onto the donation website, which in turn has caused the site to crash.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said, “The city’s Information Technology Agency could not handle the high volume of traffic or adequately respond to receive contributions for several hours Tuesday afternoon … for at least 12 consecutive hours Tuesday evening … and periodically throughout Wednesday morning.”

The Mayor is urging fans to keep trying to log onto the site and make a donation. If you are interested in making a donation, please use the link below.

Now that the memorial service for Michael Jackson has just finished, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is asking fans to contribute to offset the $4 million it will cost the city to cover the city’s costs associated with the funeral and memorial.

The Mayor’s office has created the following site for those who are interested in making a donation.

There are many Angelinos who do not agree that the city should be covering the costs and are asking the Jackson family to pay the costs the city has incurred. As of now, there is no word from the family if they will be paying for all or part of the costs.

Ticker Tape

More details emerged today of the final minutes in the life of music superstar Michael Jackson. As paramedics urgently tried to put an oxygen mask on the pop star, who was suffering cardiac arrest, they had difficulty fitting it over the two young boys who were attached to his face. Minutes later, paramedics attempted CPR but it was too late.

“All I got for my trouble was plastic shards stuck to my face,” said one paramedic…..

The United States House of Representatives passed the dramatic climate bill by a narrow margin of 212-209, “When the time came to do something too small to save the world, a slim majority of us stepped up to the plate,” said House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, “This is something every American can be proud of.”

The passage of the bill was attributed to a last minute compromise by House Republicans, who agreed to vote for an even more watered down version of the bill in exchange for a provision to sell buffalo robes this winter to those who can’t afford higher heating bills. Asked why for the first time they showed concern for financially strapped Americans, House Minority Leader John Boehner waved a fat contract which gives Haliburton the right to slaughter all buffalo in the United States and sell the hides to the government at a 400 percent markup.

“Even Haliburton has gotten aboard the climate change movement,” said Boehner, “By agreeing to slash their usual profit margin in half. This is a win-win situation. Everyone benefits, from big business to those poor people who can afford to buy buffalo robes. And with the buffalo gone, our nation’s oil drillers won’t have to worry about stepping in poop as they continue to drill for oil in our prairies.”

The Game On The R.E.D Album & Beef With 50 Cent

The Game is currently working on his R.E.D Album in Los Angeles, but he took time out of his recording schedule to say that the album title has nothing to do with being a Blood or a gangmember, but it is really a play on Jay-Z’s The Black Album.

The Game said that “the R.E.D Album is about to be serious, man. It’s a step up, it’s a little soulful, I gotta say. Still gangsta — we getting it in. I’m keeping everything on wraps right now. “

“This album … it’s gonna be different,” he added. “I was wondering to myself how I’m gonna elevate myself and even change the field. Three albums … what do you talk about after three albums? I ain’t selling crack and gangbanging and shooting shit up. My beefs have been down-low. So what do you really talk about? I just wanna rap, man. I just wanna do music. Whatever it turns out to be, it turns out to be. Long as every song has that collective feel — they gel — then we good. I’m just gonna rap this time.”

The album is scheduled to be released in 2009.

The Game has ended his beef with 50 Cent and he said that he wants to apologies to 50 as a man and to the fans. The Game said that he is growing up and wants to focus his energy on music. 50 Cent commented that he is not interested in working with The Game.

Michael Jackson’s Passing

Buy On:
Michael Jackson

I was very sad to learn that Michael Jackson passed away at age 50 from a cardiac arrest. I am sad because 50 is still young…my parents are only in their 50’s. I am sad because Michael’s children are going to grow up without a father. Mostly, I am sad because a talented musician is silenced. I grew up to Michael’s music and I always have happy memories of my Mom and I singing along.

One of my first memories is watching Thriller when I was three years old. My parents took me to see Fantasia and the theatre showed Thriller before the movie.

I was dancing in the aisles. My parents bought me the album Thriller the next day and taught me to use a record player so I can play the album anytime I wanted…and I did. I knew every song and the dance that went along with it.

Some say Michael was weird and he did bizarre things behind closed doors, but I am not going to debate the truth of what has been said in the media because whatever happened or didn’t happen is between Michael and God. For me, I will miss Michael, but I will always have his music.
