Chris Brown is set to have an intimate performance at Avalon in Hollywood on November 18, 2009. Tickets for this show go on sale via www.livenation.com on Friday, October 23rd at 12 PM.
In 2008 Chris Brown started to work on an upcoming studio album and stated that he will go in a different musical direction for his new release—currently titled Graffiti —while hoping to emulate fellow American singers Prince and Michael Jackson. He says, “I wanted to change it up and really be different. Like my style nowadays, I don’t try to be typical urban. I want to be like how Prince and Michael [Jackson] and Stevie Wonder were. They can cross over to any genre of music.”
Brown debuted his lead Graffiti single “I Can Transform Ya,” featuring Lil Wayne, on September 29th as a digital download. Brown also confirmed that his next single “Crawl” will soon follow while Graffiti is scheduled for release later this year. To support this release Chris Brown will embark on a fan appreciation tour in intimate venues all over the US.
Only 16 at the time, Chris Brown came from a small town in Virginia called Tappahannock and eventually fell under the spell of hip-hop. Around the time he reached puberty, he discovered his singing voice. Within a couple years, he had a recording contract with Jive and was lined up with several production and songwriting heavyweights (Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Dre & Vidal, Sean Garrett, Storch) for his eponymous first album, an immediate Top Ten hit released in November of 2005. Exclusive, featuring the number one pop single “Kiss Kiss,” followed in 2007.
In 2008, Brown was named the top artist by Billboard magazine. Brown has also managed to collaborate with some of the most successful artists of his genre. Brown, alongside The Game, is featured on Nas’ untitled album on “Make the World Go Round”, co-produced by the The Game and Cool & Dre. He is also featured alongside Sean Garrett for Ludacris’ single “What Them Girls Like” off Ludacris’ album, Theater of the Mind. He was also featured on T-Pain’s third single “Freeze” off T-Pain’s new album Thr33 Ringz.
